FAQ

Questions Builders Ask Spectrum Building Products

Spectrum Building Products is a veteran-owned building materials supplier based in Talbott, Tennessee. These are straight answers about how the take-off, the pricing, the single bill and the delivery checks work for builders across East Tennessee.

How it works

How does Spectrum Building Products work?

What exactly does Spectrum Building Products do?

Spectrum Building Products is a building materials supplier that handles material procurement for builders. That means pulling a complete material take-off from your plans, pricing it across the vendor market, consolidating everything onto one bill and checking deliveries on your job site. Spectrum is not a contractor or installer. It makes sure the right materials are there when the people doing the building need them.

What does "one salesman, one bill" mean?

It means one point of contact and one consolidated invoice. Instead of managing five to ten vendor accounts, each with its own rep, pricing and invoice, you work with Jared Jarnagin at Spectrum Building Products. He sources the materials across the market and handles the vendor relationships, ordering and reconciliation. More on how one salesman, one bill works.

How does a material take-off work?

Send your construction plans as a PDF or a printed set. Spectrum Building Products reads the floor plans, elevations, sections and details and produces a line-by-line material list: framing lumber, sheathing, roofing, siding, windows, doors, hardware and fasteners, with waste factors built in. Jared gives you a date for the finished list once he has seen the plans. Details are on the material take-off page.

Pricing and billing

How do pricing and billing work?

How does Spectrum Building Products price a material list?

Spectrum Building Products takes the complete take-off and prices every line across the vendor market: regional yards, national distributors and specialty suppliers. It is not tied to one manufacturer or yard, and you can name the brands you prefer. You get one transparent, consolidated quote showing each item, the quantity and the price. See vendor price sourcing.

How much can a builder save with Spectrum Building Products?

Spectrum Building Products does not promise a savings figure, because every plan set and every market week is different. The savings come from four places: accurate quantities so you do not over-order, competition between vendors on every line, equivalent products flagged when they meet the spec for less, and consolidated deliveries. The quote shows the numbers so you can compare them with what you pay now.

Is there a separate fee for cost savings consulting or delivery checks?

No. Cost savings consulting is not billed separately at Spectrum Building Products. It is how every project is approached. On-site material management is included for builders in the primary East Tennessee service area and is not sold as an add-on.

Deliveries and areas

Where and how are materials delivered?

What areas does Spectrum Building Products serve?

Spectrum Building Products is based in Talbott, Tennessee and serves builders in Morristown and across East Tennessee, including Knoxville, Sevierville, Maryville, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Oak Ridge, Farragut and Clinton. Extended markets are Charlotte, North Carolina, Chattanooga, Tennessee and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Every community is listed on the service areas page.

Does Spectrum Building Products handle delivery coordination and on-site management?

Yes. In the primary East Tennessee service area, Spectrum Building Products is physically on the job site when materials arrive. The delivery is checked against the take-off, inspected for damage and staged with your crew. If something arrives wrong or short, it is dealt with on the spot. Read more about on-site material management.

Can my subcontractors call Spectrum Building Products directly?

Yes. Your subs can call Spectrum Building Products with material questions, additions or schedule changes. The change is handled inside your project's existing order and billing, so you stay informed without brokering every conversation. See builder and subcontractor coordination.

How does Spectrum Building Products serve the U.S. Virgin Islands?

Spectrum Building Products handles material procurement and logistics for Virgin Islands builders: sourcing mainland pricing, coordinating shipping and managing delivery to the islands. One contact and one bill matter more on an island build, where vendor access is limited and shipping adds another layer of planning. See the U.S. Virgin Islands page.
